Project Manager Climate and Energy Programme
(full time, based in Budapest)

WWF is the world’s largest conservation organization, founded in 1961. We’re active in over 100 countries and have over 7700 employees. WWF Central and Eastern Europe is responsible for leading and to a significant extent implementing WWF’s efforts to preserve, restore and sustainably manage the natural values of the Danube-Carpathian ecoregion, which we also call the Green Heart of Europe. With a team of 160 highly specialised professionals, we are working across political borders through an ecoregional approach based on model projects, influencing policy, networking, capacity building, communication and crisis response.

WWF Hungary is seeking to recruit an experienced Project Manager Climate and Energy Programme to join the nature conservation team.

Responsibilities

 

Major project-related responsibilities:

·         Bearing key responsibility for CEESEU project, it’s implementation and WWF-Hungary’s contribution

·         Engaging stakeholders and lead the development and support the implementaton of SECAPs in the two Hungarian partner municipalities

·         Contributing to training material development of local municipalities

·         Organizing local trainings on developing SECAPs for Hungarian municipalities

·         Managing other WWF Hungary staff dedicated on the project

·         Monitoring results and coordinating the technical and financial reporting

 

Major climate change and energy programme responsibilities:

Providing general support for the climate and energy programme
Coordinating the carbon footprint accounting and the development of mitigation plans of WWF Hungary’s corporate partners
Providing technical contribution to the implementation of corporate partnerships regarding carbon footprint reduction
Developing and implementing climate mitigation projects to various EU funds
Contributing to the development of the climate and energy programme
Participating and representing on events, conferences, workshops related to the field of expertise
Representing WWF position for different stakeholders
Building and maintaining partnerships with relevant stakeholders and allies
Contributing to WWF’s communication
Requirements:

Corresponding university degree or post-graduate degree (nature/environmental sciences or related technical/engineering fields)
At least 3 years of work experience on development and preferably on implementation of Sustainable Energy and Climate Plans or equivalent strategies
Expertise in the field of climate change impacts and adaptation, especially on municipality and corporate level
General understanding of environmental challenges and the social, economic and political processes interlinked with them
Expertise in corporate carbon footprint accounting.
Expertise in the EU Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) is a strong advantage
Excellent written and oral communication skills in Hungarian and English
Excellent networker, with good organizational and interpersonal skills, with experience of the Hungarian municipality system
Proactive, with a can-do attitude; self-starter, quick learner, good team player
Able to work well within the national and larger international WWF team, as well as independently
Project management skills: timely implementation, ability to plan and coordinate diverse parallel activities with several participants, accurate in administration
Passion and dedication to WWF’s mission and environmental protection
